Geschichte anhören und Fragen beantworten →A few years ago, there was an empty piece of land behind our apartment building. It was full of rubbish, and nobody wanted to go there. Then my neighbour, Mrs Novak, had an idea: "If we work together, we can turn this place into a garden."
At first, only five people came to help. We collected the rubbish, and new soil was brought by a local company. The first vegetables were planted in spring. By summer, more than twenty neighbours had joined us.
Today, the garden is used by families, students and older people. Tomatoes, beans and herbs are grown there, and nothing is wasted: old fruit and vegetables are turned into compost. I have met many neighbours I had never talked to before. In my opinion, the garden hasn't just changed the land — it has changed our street.
