Past Simple
Finished actions in the past, often with an exact time.
When do we use it?
For actions that started and finished in the past. Often with yesterday, last week, in 2010, ago.
I watched a film yesterday.
We moved here two years ago.
Regular and irregular verbs
Regular verbs add -ed (work → worked, play → played). Irregular verbs must be learned by heart.
go → went
buy → bought
see → saw
Negatives and questions
We use did / didn't, and the main verb goes back to its base form.
She didn't call me.
Did you see the match?
Tip: Never use the past form after did: 'Did you saw' ✗ → 'Did you see' ✓.
